It states on OUR AUTHORITY, which is found on the back of our Questionaire, in part:"The Moorish Science Temple of America deriving its power and authority from the Great Koran of Mohammed to propogate the faith and extend the learning and truth of the Great Prophet of ALI in America. To appoint and consecrate missionaries of the prophet and to establish the faith of Mohammed in America".
This is part of our mission statement. Our Illustrious Prophet stated that in a more profound sense, our problems are moral and spiritual. By adopting the Religious Creed of our Forefathers, we can address the issues that plague our communities. We can address the : drugs, violence, despair, crime, hopelessness, sky-rocketing incarceration rates, and single-parent households that we see everyday.
The Faith of Mohammed is rooted in the 6 Articles of Faith:
Belief in Allah
Belief in the Angels
Belief in the Prophets
Belief in the Holy Books
Belief in the Divine Decree/Fate
Belief in the Day of Judgment
It is not righteousness that you turn your faces towards the East and the West, but righteous is the one who believes in Allah, and the Last Day, and the angels and the Book and the prophets, and gives away wealth out of love for Him to the near of kin and the orphans and the needy and the wayfarer and to those who ask and to set slaves free and keeps up prayer and pays the poor-rate; and the performers of their promise when they make a promise, and the patient in distress and affliction and in the time of conflict. These are they who are truthful; and these are they who keep their duty. - Sura 2:177
The Holy Prophet Noble Drew Ali teaches us that religion is Allah's relationship with man and the entire Universe. He says that the purpose of religion is to teach man his infirmities, to remind him of his weakness, and to show him that from Heaven alone can he hope for good. Being that Islam is the religion of Allah and now recognizing the Oneness of Allah and man, the goal of man's life, according to Islam, is to attain peace with everything. Peace with Allah and peace with man. This is done through our religious practices and beliefs.
